The summer time of 2024 has set new temperature benchmarks globally, based on information from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) launched Thursday.
Global common temperatures for June to August reached 0.69C above the 1991-2020 common, surpassing the earlier file of 0.66C set in 2023, based on the European Union’s local weather monitor.
Europe skilled its hottest summer time on file, with temperatures hovering to 1.54C above common, exceeding the earlier file of 1.34C from 2022.
August 2024 tied with August 2023 because the warmest August globally, with a mean floor air temperature of 16.82C, 0.71C above the common. It marked the thirteenth month in a 14-month interval the place international common floor air temperatures exceeded 1.5C above pre-industrial ranges, C3S famous.
The 12-month interval from September 2023 to August 2024 was additionally the warmest on file, at 0.76C above the common and 1.64C above pre-industrial ranges, based on the report.
