Syria’s chief Ahmed al-Sharaa stated new elections may take 4 years and that drafting a brand new structure may take three, in an interview with Saudi-owned Al Arabiya tv on Sunday.
“The election process could take four years,” Sharaa stated, three weeks after main opposition group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and allied anti-regime teams ousted longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad, including: “We need to rewrite the constitution” which may take “two or three years.”
