Taliban welcome extension of UN mission mandate in Afghanistan

The Taliban on Saturday welcomed the one-year extension of the mandate of the UN Assistance Mission (UNAMA) in Afghanistan.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Taliban, mentioned that Afghanistan must foster diplomatic relations with worldwide organizations, particularly the UN, and the worldwide group, including that UNAMA can contribute on this regard.

He mentioned that the Afghan individuals need UNAMA to meet its consultant mandate nicely, set up contact between Afghanistan and the world, replicate Afghanistan’s improvement, achievements, safety and stability to the world, and assist set up belief with nations having reservations.

On Friday, the UN Security Council prolonged UNAMA’s mandate for an additional 12 months.

UNAMA, headquartered within the capital Kabul, has roughly 1,200 employees members.
