Russia’s prime diplomat late Wednesday arrived within the Kazakh metropolis of Almaty forward of a international ministers summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Russian state news company RIA reported Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov‘s arrival in Almaty, including that he’s anticipated to attend the CIS Foreign Ministers’ Summit later this week. He may also maintain separate conferences along with his Central Asian counterparts.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister spokeswoman Maria Zakharova mentioned Lavrov would participate within the CIS Foreign Ministers Council assembly on Friday.
“The ministers will exchange views on current international and regional issues and discuss priority spheres of integration cooperation within the CIS this year,” Zakharova mentioned, including they may also deal with different problems with cultural and humanitarian cooperation, in addition to methods to strengthen border safety.
The CIS is a regional group shaped after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 by its former members to advertise cooperation in financial, political, and safety affairs.
