Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Thursday met with Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, the UN secretary-general’s private envoy on Cyprus.

No additional data was shared concerning the closed-door assembly held within the capital Ankara.

Last month, Guterres introduced the appointment of Holguin as his private envoy on Cyprus.

Holguin served as international minister of Colombia in 2010-2018.

Cyprus has been mired in a decades-long dispute between Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots, regardless of a sequence of diplomatic efforts by the UN to realize a complete settlement.

Türkiye is a guarantor nation for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and absolutely helps a two-state answer on the island based mostly on sovereign equality and equal worldwide standing between its two states.
