The U.S. will arm dozens of F-16 fighter jets which are being despatched to Ukraine with superior weapons, the Wall Street Journal newspaper reported Tuesday.
A senior U.S. official instructed the newspaper that the Pentagon will provide the F-16s with air-to-ground munitions, precision-guidance kits for bombs and superior air-to-air missiles in enough portions to satisfy Ukraine’s most pressing wants in its struggle towards Russia.
“We are confident that we will be able to supply all of those [weapons], at least the critical volumes that they need,” the official was quoted.
The Pentagon on Monday introduced a safety help package deal that features air protection interceptors, munitions for rocket programs and artillery, and anti-tank weapons for Ukraine.
It consists of as much as $200 million of apparatus drawn from the Pentagon’s inventories below the presidential drawdown authority and roughly $1.5 billion in help licensed below the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.
The package deal marks the 62nd drawdown of army gear for Ukraine from the Pentagon’s inventories, and the U.S. has supplied greater than $55.4 billion in safety help to Ukraine because the struggle began in February 2022.
