Ukrainian president says new US tariffs ‘not good,’ but won’t affect arms supply or economy

The new tariffs launched by US President Donald Trump’s administration won’t have an effect on Ukraine’s financial system or its navy help provide, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Friday.

Talking to the media in Kyiv, Zelenskyy emphasised that the quantity of weapon deliveries won’t be affected. “The volume of arms supply is not influenced by this; that’s the first thing,” he stated.

He added that Ukraine’s commerce turnover with the US stays “very small,” at the moment standing at $3.5-3.8 billion.

“We understand what tariffs existed before on our metallurgy; there was a 25% tariff even earlier. Then, after the full-scale war began, the tariff was lowered, and now it has been restored,” he defined.

“This isn’t a volume that presents problems for us. It’s not an issue,” Zelenskyy famous, though he acknowledged that the choice is “not very good” for Ukraine’s financial system.

“In terms of tariffs, they will not affect us overall,” he believed.

The US on Wednesday reintroduced increased tariffs on metal and aluminum imports from sure international locations, together with Ukraine, sparking concern amongst worldwide commerce companions.
