The UN Security Council unanimously agreed Wednesday to resume its Yemeni sanctions mandate for one more 12 months.

The decision permits focused monetary and journey ban measures on designated Yemeni people till Nov. 15, 2025.

The mandate for the Yemen Panel of Experts, liable for monitoring and reporting on the sanctions, was additionally prolonged till Dec. 15, 2025, through the UK-submitted decision.

UK’s envoy Barbara Woodward emphasised that extending the sanctions was “crucial to rejuvenating the Yemeni peace process.”

She stated that it “sends a clear signal” from the Council to the Houthis, underlining its significance in curbing Houthi efforts to destabilize Yemen.
