The United Nations Security Council will maintain an emergency session over the killing of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran’s capital Tehran on Wednesday, Russia stated.

The assembly, requested by Iran and supported by representatives of Russia, China and Algeria, is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (2000 GMT), stated a spokesman for the Russian presidency, which holds the rotating management of the council.
