US expresses solidarity with Israel after calls to annex West Bank

The U.S. reaffirmed its assist for Israel and its safety choices Wednesday, whereas avoiding questions on backing a two-state answer amid Israeli ministers’ calls to annex the occupied West Bank, in violation of worldwide legislation.

In a letter addressed to Netanyahu and shared by far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on X, signatories demanded the federal government “apply sovereignty over Judea and Samaria (West Bank) earlier than the top of the Knesset summer season session,” which ends July 27.

The ministers argued that the present “strategic partnership and backing and assist of the U.S. and President Donald Trump create a good time to guide this transfer (annexation) now.”

It warned that recognizing settlement blocs whereas establishing a Palestinian state on the remaining land poses an “existential risk to Israel.”

Among the signatories have been the ministers of protection, economic system, agriculture, power, communications, transportation, justice, tourism, innovation, tradition, diaspora affairs, schooling, social equality, regional cooperation and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.
