Pro-Palestinian protesters on Monday shut down Highway 101 on the Golden Gate Bridge, blocking site visitors on the enduring bridge in San Francisco.
While stopping their autos and blocking all southbound lanes of the span, the protestors demanded the US cease arming and funding Israel within the ongoing Gaza battle.
Protestors carried banners studying “Stop the World for Gaza,” and “End the Siege on Gaza Now.”
The California Highway Patrol was on the scene, with “no estimate time for reopening,” in accordance with the Golden Gate Bridge’s X account.
“Drivers should expect significant delays & avoid using the Bridge where possible,” it added.
The site visitors was additionally blocked in different main cities, together with Chicago at O’Hare Airport, because of the protests.
Israel has waged a lethal navy offensive on the Gaza Strip since an Oct. 7 cross-border assault led by Hamas wherein some 1,200 Israelis had been killed.
