The United States has began pulling a whole lot of troops from northeastern Syria, a report printed by The New York Times claimed Thursday.

The army is shuttering three of its eight small working bases, decreasing troop ranges to about 1,400 from 2,000, the Times reported, citing two senior U.S. officers.

The officers mentioned American commanders will assess whether or not to make extra cuts after 60 days.

Commanders have really useful protecting at the very least 500 troops in Syria, mentioned one official.

The report mentioned President Donald Trump has expressed “deep skepticism” about protecting U.S. troops in Syria.

Trump mentioned in late January that the U.S. “will make a determination” on troops in Syria following a report that mentioned he intends to withdraw American forces.

“I don’t know who said that, but we’ll make a determination on that,” Trump advised reporters on the White House. “We’re not involved in Syria. Syria is in its own mess. They’ve got enough messes over there. They don’t need us involved.”

According to the New York Times, at the very least for now, the reductions that began Thursday are primarily based on floor commanders’ suggestions to shut and consolidate bases, and had been authorized by the Pentagon and its central command.
