Yemen’s Houthi group stated Wednesday it held “constructive” talks with the European Union on the Red Sea safety.
Hussein al-Azzi, a Houthi official of their overseas ministry, stated that talks mediated by Norway have been held with the EU.
“We affirmed that maritime navigation is safe,” he added at a press convention in Sanaa.
On Monday, the EU formally launched a naval mission, beneath the identify Mission Aspides, to guard industrial vessels within the Red Sea from Houthi assaults.
Al-Azzi stated that Israeli, US and British vessels are prohibited from crusing within the Red Sea.
“The US can’t secure its ships,” he stated. “They were passing safely before they attacked Yemen, but now they are helpless.”
According to the Houthi chief, 283 ships crossed the Red Sea safely.
There was no remark but from the EU or the US on the Houthi statements.
The Houthis have been concentrating on cargo ships within the Red Sea owned or operated by Israeli corporations or transporting items to and from Israel in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been beneath an Israeli onslaught since Oct. 7.
With tensions escalating because of the joint strikes of the US and UK towards Houthi targets in Yemen, the group declared that it thought-about all American and British ships authentic navy targets.
