Türkiye’s unemployment slightly up to 9.1% in January

The unemployment in Türkiye ticked barely up in January when in comparison with a month earlier, official knowledge from the nation’s statistical authority confirmed on Monday.

The unemployment price realized at 9.1% in January, up by 0.2 proportion factors from December 2023, based on the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) knowledge.

The variety of unemployed individuals totaled 3.2 million, up by 85,000 individuals month-over-month in January.

The unemployment price was 7.7% for males and 11.7% for girls in January.

On the opposite hand, TurkStat mentioned the variety of employed individuals elevated by 160,000 to 32.22 million in January 2024 in comparison with the earlier month.

It added that the seasonally adjusted employment price was calculated as 49%, up by 0.2 proportion factors from January.

The youth unemployment price within the 15-24 age group was 16.6%, with a rise of 1.1 proportion factors in comparison with the earlier month. This price was estimated at 14.1% for males and 21.1% for girls.

Meanwhile, TurkStat’s knowledge confirmed that the unemployment price was down from 9.7% in January 2023.
