Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned in an interview printed on Friday that he hoped President Vladimir Putin would run within the March election for an additional time period as Russian president, a transfer that may preserve the Kremlin chief in energy till at the very least 2030.

Putin, who was handed the presidency by Boris Yeltsin on the final day of 1999, has already been in energy for longer than every other Kremlin chief since Josef Stalin, beating even Leonid Brezhnev’s 18-year tenure.

Asked by the scholar tv channel of Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO) what the following president after Putin needs to be like, Peskov mentioned: “The same.”

“Or different but the same,” Peskov added with a smile.

“Putin has not yet announced his intention to run but I sincerely want to believe that he will do that, and I have no doubt that he will win the elections. I have no doubt that he will continue to be president.”

Reuters reported earlier this month that Putin has determined to run within the March election, because the Kremlin chief feels he should steer Russia by probably the most perilous interval in a long time.
