Protests towards the judicial reform of the Israeli authorities led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued for the thirty eighth straight week Saturday.

Tens of 1000’s of Israelis in Tel Aviv, West Jerusalem, Haifa and Herzliya demanded democracy within the authorities.

Justice Minister Yariv Levin had introduced Jan. 5, instantly after the formation of a Netanyahu coalition authorities, a complete “judicial reform” plan that may restrict the powers of the judiciary, scale back the affect of high-ranking judicial officers in appointments, remove oversight over the chief department and switch sure powers of the judiciary to the Knesset, or parliament.

Supporters argue that the “reform” is critical to rein within the unchecked energy of the judiciary, which they consider is in battle with the desire of the elected political establishments.

Opponents consider the regulation “eliminates the only effective control over the executive branch in Israel, harms civil liberties, economic prosperity, and the country’s international image.”
