Russia has put Meta Platforms’ spokesperson Andy Stone on a needed record on unspecified prices, state-run TASS news company reported on Sunday.

TASS mentioned the Russian Interior Ministry had opened a felony investigation in opposition to Stone however that the ministry had not disclosed the small print of the investigation or prices.

Meta’s fundamental social platforms – Facebook and Instagram – had been each banned in Russia shortly after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February final 12 months.

In March 2022 the Russian investigative committee mentioned it has opened felony investigation in opposition to the “illegal actions of Meta’s employees” and talked about Stone, saying he had “lifted a ban on calls for violence against the Russian military on its platforms” and was thus inciting extremist exercise.

Meta’s press workplace didn’t instantly reply to a Reuters request in search of remark from Stone and Meta out of regular business hours.
