The U.S. on Monday expressed its openness to China taking part in a “constructive role” within the Middle East however mentioned “there is no substitute for U.S. leadership” within the area.
“We would welcome China playing a constructive role in the Middle East,” State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller mentioned at his press briefing.
