The UN Security Council has not fulfilled its responsibility to take care of worldwide peace and safety, the president of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly stated Thursday.
The remarks by Dennis Francis got here throughout a session on council reform on the United Nations General Assembly during which he identified that conflicts and wars proceed to unfold in lots of components of the world.
Francis added that the UN is “paralyzed” in confronting these challenges on account of divisions inside the UN Security Council.
“During this major transformation, the UN Security Council remains dangerously unable to fulfill its basic duty to maintain international peace and security,” he stated.
Francis harassed that the reliability of the whole United Nations, not simply the Security Council, can be unsure if structural reform was not carried out within the Council.
